Hello Everyone,

I joined the e-NABLE community yesterday. I am electronics engineer and own a 3D printer.

I a few days ago, met a young boy of 27. His four fingers along with half of the palm was amputed in an accident. His thumb just moved forward and backward.

I need help of a 3d designer to design a hand for him or at least modify any existing model. I can share the images and other details.

Hi Momin, is the potential recipient’s wrist with full range of motion? Do you happen to have a more recent iPhone with 3d scanning using LIDAR sensor? Thanks.

Thank you Mr. David for considering my request.

One of my friends has the latest iPhone. I will ask him if his phone supports that specific feature.

And its late night in Pakistan now. Hopefully i will ask the recipient to share further details about his wrist. 😃

@David Clark Hi,

I just asked the recipient about his wrist. He said the wrist can move freely. While my friend owns iphone 13,he said that this feature is available in pro and pro-max versions, so can't help us.

Please let me know what else can we do to get the measurements? Thanks 😃

Momin, thank you for looking into the availability of a scanner. It is also good news that his wrist has full motion capability. The next step is to formally open a case on e-NABLE.org. Once you more formally open a request/case, you should receive volunteers (like me!) provide offers to help and then you can choose which offer you want to go with. Just a suggestion here… but you may want to consider a more local e-NABLE support group in/near Pakistan to work with you but that’s up to you. The “chapters” link will point you in that direction and the Request a Device link will also be an enabler for you to get the ball rolling with how to open a case. Don’t worry, its not too complicated at all. The volunteers will help you with measurements (yes, there is a good static procedure) and also after running the measurements and images through CAD overlays, the volunteer can recommend devices. My judgement is that your recipient may need some modification in design to the currently bookshelfed limbs but they’ll go through that with you. I hope this helps! Feel free to ask anything else. Momin, that is good news that a higher quality scan may be available for the volunteers assisting you in selecting and potentially re-designing a device to best fit the recipient. The next step is to click the following link and follow the directions to upload your case and to obtain a team of volunteers to assist helping your friend. Be sure to include in your write-up for the new case that a LIDAR scan may be available.
