Assistive Technology & Universal Design Volunteer Show & Tell

We have a new project. I will be working with a local veterinary surgeon to design a foot for this sweet baby. We need to save the residual leg, so he doesn’t do further damage. I would welcome any of my colleagues input on the best method to proceed. We will be doing 3d scans next week, and processing some simulated designs. When the project is complete, we will be happy to share the designs with our enable brothers and sisters..

I don’t know anyone with this company personally, however you might check with them as it appears they offer consulting and they 3D print a variety of adaptive tech for all different kinds of animals. https://www.adaptivetechandconsulting.com

You guys are awesome,, thanks so much for your feedback. I would like to run something past all of you. As you know,, with animals, trying to keep the appliance attached is a problem,, and I am thinking, what would be an easy, simple method of attachment that would be comfortable, and efficient… remember the days when we would torment our kids by putting their fingers in a Chinese finger trap? Anyone out there have a 3d representation of this for possibly thin TPU? All comments, ideas and suggestions welcome!

Thanks Alexander.. we have just completed the measurements and are in the design phase… We are hoping to have some preliminary models done next week,, and will present them to the veterinary surgeon for his approval and input.. we will probably submit 4 models initially, and try a limited fitting for his hands on analysis. We have some excellent designs, and are hopeful the surgeon will be pleased and pick from one of these… we fully expect him to have some modifications, but that’s to be expected… I am always thankful that the group steps up to assist, and may have some difficulties choosing a proper material… thanks everyone for your feedback!

Absolutely! My plan is to post multiple solutions, and hilight the surgeons final choice … Please feel free to post any ideas that might help,, and also, if you have any info on the case you are working on, we would be happy to take look.. (Hind leg,, how much residual leg do you have to work with,, age? weight?)
