We are exploring international translations from English to the following languages to help cover our core documentation for the majority of our community:

  • Korean
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Japanese

You’ll find 9 comments below with our Winter Newsletter in all of the listed languages. If you have feedback/suggestions related to a specific language, please reply to that specific comment. If you know of other members who speak that language, please tag those members to help us review and spread the word.

“chapters” better translate in French to “chapitres” than “sections” (although I sometime think “phalanx” would be more appropriate altogether, but maybe a little too historically agressive 😃).

@Ben Rubin you did a great job, here are few adjustments needed for italian translation:

  • need to adjust the subtitle adding articles: “*e-NABLE è una rete globale di volontari che esplorano la tecnologia assistiva, la collaborazione open source e **l’*adattabilità”.
  • STEM, verb is plural: “Jen Owen di 3D Universe ed EnablingtheFuture (ETF) hanno lanciato un concorso per le scuole”
  • near the end (donations): “Fai una donazione di un kit per un arto protesico:”

Dear Ben, thank you for sharing this. At first glance, it looks okay, but my Korean isn’t good enough to proofread :0 I organize our enabling the future activity as an afterschool program. All the students are bilingual (Korean/English) high school students. If you like, I can ask them to proofread. @Aidan Hammond that sounds good. Perhaps you can print the newsletter for them to take home and share if it is correct. I’m curious to see what materials would be useful being in multiple languages, let us know if you have ideas.

Not sure if prior note appeared…sorry if repeat. There is a great online free option for written text called Google Translate which is just copy and paste and it translates. I used it for English to German. My friend who lived in Germany and interprets for me looked at it and did not change a word.

Google Translate is a wonderful resource! It isn’t as percise with technical language or larger sections, but great for comments. This Dell partnership translation seems to be pretty good for larger documents. Not as good as a native human! 😄
