I’ve been doing a little work on a modified support system to make the Phoenix v2 hand easier to print on some printers. The currently provided support box is very easy to remove, but still leaves some fussy overhangs. I would like to get a completely ‘walk-away-safe’ print for this hand, so I don’t have to babysit the printer to make sure the overhang works. At least on my printer, using PrusaSlicer, long bridges are really easy. Thus, I have replaced the support box structure with a set up bridged struts. My trial prints of this have gone very well. When the supports are broken off (which is easy), they do leave little nubs which need to be sanded off, but with a Dremel and flap-wheel this takes about 5 minutes. I have attached a picture of the design as it stands. Is there an easy way to contribute this as an alternative to the regular v2, without creating a completely new Thingiverse remix thing for it? This is created by having used meshmixer to remove the support box, and then a few lines of OpenScad code to add the struts.
